The Greene County Ram cross-country team ran in the South Central Calhoun Invitational in Lake City Oct. 7 and placed third among eight girls teams and seventh among 13 boys teams. Rams took home 10 medals total and almost every runner ran faster than their average time.
Winning time in the girl 4K race was 15:37.47 set by Grace Meyer of Pocahontas Area. Olivia Hansen was the first Ram to finish with a time of 17:07.3 and eighth place. Other varsity runners and their times were Emily Chirstensen, 11th, 17;33.4; Eme Johnson, 12th, 17:34.3; Emily Finch, 14th, 17:45.4; Noelle Gray, 26th, 18:37.1; Jolee Wessling, 32nd, 18:56.2; and Cassidy Adamson, 43rd, 19:25.7.
Pocahontas Area won the girls race with a team score of 19. Other scores were South Central Calhoun 48, Greene County 63, Alta-Aurelia 110, Carroll Kuemper 141, Southeast Valley 149, East Sac County 214, and Sioux Central 215.
Ogden’s Trey Thompson won another race with a time of 17:37.77 for the 5K boys race. Lead runner for the Rams was Logan Egeland in 10th place with a time of 18:50.3. Other finishes were Landon Braun, 13th, 19:12.7; Anthony Cunningham, 49th, 20:21.8; Kane Borgeson, 51st, 20:26.9; Abe Yoder, 65th, 21;06.9; and Ethan Woodruff, 66th, 21:11.7.
No one team dominated the race, as Carroll Kuemper won the team title with a score of 86. Southeast Valley was second with 93 points. Other team scores were Odeboldt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove, 3rd also 93 points; Alta-Aurelia 95; Ogden 103; SC Calhoun 145, Greene County 189, Amanson NW 214, East Sac 236, Ridge View 241, Pocahontas Area 290, Woodward Academy 314, Paton-Churdan 370.
